Maaaaaaaaan, I can’t believe it’s real! I came up with the idea for Thirst in December of 2025, and started messing around with it sometime in January of ’26. It went through 3 MAJOR revisions, with the 1st beta readers getting a version of the story that didn’t even include Amari’s POV. It was just Alliyah’s POV, and while the reception I got was cool, I wanted more. I’m competitive, and I switched genres from contemporary spicy romance to romantic fantasy necause I felt like I do so much more and make people feel it more. I needed MORE.

So I went to ApollyCon and started asking fans how they felt about dual POV books. Everybody saif “Dual POV is my shit!” People liked getting the MMCs side of things, and what would be doper than getting inside the head of a vamlire. Consider it done! I went back to work after the signing in April and added Amari’s POV. I also had to change some scenes from Aaliyah’s to Amari’s instead. Quite the process, but I got it done and told my agent that the change was so dope I wanted to see if I could put Thirst in stores. So I put version 2 on submission and was THIS CLOSE 🤏🏾 to getting a traditional deal for this series. But eventually pulled it from consideration because I write books for a living and was coming up on a year without publishing anything, which is a no-no for a full-time author with a wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs, a car payment, and a mortgage.

Then came version 3 and the release date I chose. I went into that 3rd and final version after I pulled it from submission looking for something that would set me apart from all the other authors writing dark romantic fantasy. I needed MORE, and just as I was revising chapter 1 to make Amari just a bit grittier, it hit me. I had a whole lightbulb moment 💡

I went through those 3rd revisions putting this new idea to use, and it changed EVERYTHING!!! Suddenly, chapters were going through major switch-ups. Amari started flashing, and freezing time. Then, he was on the ceiling. Then, a whole new scene was added after some flames went up 🔥 The book went UP with this new idea, and I knew I had something special on my hands. Now this special thing is out in the world, and people are marveling over it. Thirst has garnered enthusiasm like I’ve never had before, both before and after its release. I hit my target audience like a bullseye 🎯 I could not be happier or more grateful for everyone showing this book love.
